IdProduct 0x7523 HL - 340 USB - Serial adapter was most likely to culprit, so I decided to buy another random USB to serial dongle on eBay, and after a few weeks I received it only to find out it had the exact same VID:PID, so I was out of luck. Finally, I gave up on Sigrok on Linux, and tested the in a Windows 7 virtual machine running in my Ubuntu 14.04 host PC. A few days later, saying ch341 driver just ignored parity (UNI-T DMM use odd parity), but that he that should eventually make it to mainline. Since I did not want to wait I decided to build ch341.ko with the patched driver, and I can now use Sigrok with my HL-340 USB-Serial adapter successfully, but I’ll write more about that in another post, and today, I’ll document the steps I followed to build the driver for my machine. Instructions to are already available, but the patch for ch341 driver is for Linux 3.18.6, and Ubuntu 14.04 comes with Linux 3.13. So I had two choices: • Backport the driver to Linux 3.13 • Upgrade my Ubuntu kernel to 3.18 I decided to go with option 1 at first, but I quickly changed my mind as there’s been a bit too many modifications between the two versions, and it started to be time consuming. So it was time for plan B, or rather option 2. Headus UVLayout Pro v. XFORCE - Torrent Downloads. Qinheng Electronics Hl-340 Usb-serial Adapter DriverCH340/341 UART Driver for Raspberry Pi A pre-compiled binary for CH340/341 (HL340/341) USB-to-Serial UART Driver for Raspberry Pi. This is a very common chip, especially in those millions of esp8266-based dev boards (also often referred to as NodeMCU). Raspberry Pi doesn't have an out of the box driver for it, so plugging your device into RPI's USB won't do much other than power it. I found it surprisingly difficult to locate working instructions and binaries, hence this repository came to life. The driver will work both for CH340 & CH341 chips. Sometimes you will see the HL340/HL341 designation, it's just different names for the same hardware. 1-Minute How-To Download the ch34x.ko onto the Raspberry Pi. See the Releases tab above. Qinheng Electronics Hl-340 Usb-serial Adapter LinuxI have Kubuntu 14.10 development workstation and recently I have bought a adapter. Whatever text I send to the Raspberry Pi B+ via minicom, the traffic on the line is dead, I've checked with scope. I've double checked the Raspberry Pi B+ setup, the wirings (triple checked with multimeter), the scope wirings and the serial communication is dead. The port on Raspberry Pi B+ is working, because I've hooked up scope on transmit pin of serial port (on Raspberry Pi B+ side) and if I send text from Raspberry Pi B+ (via minicom under ssh tunnel), I get activity on the scope. I cannot get data from PC via USB serial dongle.
